BOSTON, MA. (July 28, 2025) – For the second consecutive year, Justice Law Collaborative, LLC (JLC) was named to Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Empowering Women list, citing the firm’s commitment to elevating and supporting women in the field of law.

After receiving widespread reports of abuse, Maryland Delegate Vaughn Stewart and other legislators took action to spotlight the seedy, unregulated transport of young people to residential behavioral treatment programs. Representatives from the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), “troubled teen” industry (TTI) attorney Kim Dougherty of Justice Law Collaborative, celebrity and TTI survivor Paris Hilton, and others, provided testimony in support of the bill, which passed in both chambers of the Maryland legislature and was signed into law by Governor Wes Moore (May 2025). Governor Moore signed the bill, intended to prevent the trauma inflicted by the use of blindfolds, zip ties, and leather straps on young people being transported to residential behavioral treatment programs by for-profit youth transport services.

(June 20, 2025) – On the heels of a November 2024 lawsuit filed against “TRAILS CAROLINA, LLC “Trails” and FAMILY HELP & WELLNESS (FH&W), Justice Law Collaborative has filed a second lawsuit against the entity and its sub-facility, ASHEVILLE ACADEMY claiming that the self-promoted therapeutic wilderness-based residential treatment program for girls misled parents, charged exorbitant fees, and fostered a highly abusive environment.
Lawsuit accuses genetic test maker of misleading claims.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – A group of fertility patients has filed a federal class action lawsuit against Luminary Genetics (formerly NextGen Genetics), the company behind a test widely used during IVF treatment, alleging that the test is unreliable and may have ended their chances of having a child.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court, claims that the Silicon Valley-based firm aggressively marketed its genetic screening test as a proven, highly accurate way to select the best embryos during the IVF process. But, in reality, the suit says, the test doesn’t deliver what it promises—and the company knew it.

The new West Coast office, located in Los Angeles, will be helmed by KBM Law founder Karen Barth Menzies, transforming the newly amalgamated entity into one of the only one-hundred-percent (100%) female-owned and led plaintiffs law firms in America. The firm will continue to operate as Justice Law Collaborative, LLC.
BOSTON, Mass. (June 25, 2025) – Justice Law Collaborative (JLC) co-founder and partner Kimberly (Kim) Dougherty has been named a 2025 Lelia J. Robinson Award recipient by the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts (WBA).
The Lelia J. Robinson Award, named after the first woman admitted to practice in Massachusetts, recognizes women who are pioneers in the legal profession, have achieved professional excellence, have positively influenced the advancement of women pursuing legal careers, and have made a difference in their community. Past recipients include Massachusetts’ 73rd Governor Maura Healey and the 38th Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court, Kimberly Budd, among many notable others.
