Laws in other states fuel hope that Massachusetts will eliminate statute of limitations on claims

STATE HOUSE, BOSTON, July 21, 2026 Supporters of legislation aiming to improve remedies for survivors of child sexual abuse are hopeful that increased advocacy and similar laws passed in other states will help push the bill across the finish line in Massachusetts.
“We’re certainly hopeful, but we don’t want to get survivors’ hopes up because we’ve been disappointed in the past,” said Kelly Guagenty, a Justice Law Collaborative partner. “But we really feel that because so many other states have made good rulings and good laws this past year. We’re hoping Massachusetts, which should be a beacon for justice issues, we really hope Massachusetts nally does the right thing by survivors this year.”
